The daughter of Jack & Marilyn (Stiles) Hinkle, she was born on December 05, 1952 in Plainwell. Growing up within the family business, at the age of 10, Connie became the proud bread slicer at Hinkle’s Bakery. With her very first paycheck, she went out and bought an outfit for her Barbie doll. She continued to work hard as she graduated from high school as class valedictorian. She also earned a full ride scholarship to Western Michigan University. After that, she became a CPA and spent 25 years working for Borgess Hospital. She also taught accounting at Davenport University for several years.
Connie found passion in each new activity she took on. Whether it was her passion for music, traveling, theater, Mark Nepo's philosophy, yoga, books, the latest Apple products, designing jewelry, or tai chi, she was always searching. She was fueled with intellectual curiosity.
However, her greatest love was her daughter and her family. Connie told all, "Carly is the joy of my life” and that joy extended to Connie's granddaughter, Camree and son-in-law, Phillip. With her granddaughter, she could share childlike exuberance in games and pretend.
Taking life on as an obstacle course, Connie faced many uphill battles. She survived a life threatening automobile accident at age 19. She made the best out of her congestive heart failure diagnosis and even beat cancer. One of her doctors called her the cat with nine lives. She took it all on and did it with a grateful and open heart. She had a faith in God that inspired many. She said she was gifted extra time and that she was so happy she had 10 years with Camree.
She leaves here with friends from earlier times and many newer ones from the last seven years while she lived with her daughter’s family in the Gun Lake area. She formed fast, deep friendships with those with whom she connected. She found strengths and good that others did not always see in themselves. She was not judgmental, she was unconditionally loving. While private in many aspects, she could share enough to let others know they could confide. She kept faith in everyone. She left with all things in order, claiming she'd get a trophy in heaven for leaving the cleanest footprint on earth. She leaves such a legacy to those with whom she shared.
Connie is preceded in passing by her parents; and brother, Ron Hinkle; Surviving are her daughter, Carly (Phillip) Kissinger; granddaughter, Camree Kissinger; brother, John (Pat) Hinkle; sister-in-law, Deanna Hinkle; many nieces & nephews; and a lot of dear & special friends.
