Christine Lynn Smith

Our sweet angel has gone to Heaven to be with the Lord. Christine "Christy" Lynn Smith, age 43, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, with her parents by her side. Christy was born on December 9, 1981, in Grand Rapids.

Christy is survived by her loving parents, Kevin and Deb Smith, who provided her with constant love and support throughout her life; her brother Damian Smith and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all share countless memories of their adventures with her. We all grieve her loss with great sadness as she has left us too soon.

Many days, Christy would sit on the front porch at their home on Ponderosa, and later at their condo in Grand Rapids, and wave to everyone in the neighborhood. She was spontaneous and always ready to pack up in the morning to get in the car for a ride. It didn’t matter where they were going, Christy was just happy to get out and go on an adventure. She was especially fond of camping during the summer with her family at the many campgrounds in Michigan. If they were not camping, you could find them hanging out at the cottage where Christy loved to swim and sit by the campfire. At night Christy’s favorite thing to do was to go for a drive in the country and look for deer. It is the simple things in life that can bring so much joy and happiness. Chisty loved all those simple things.

Christy was always happy and smiling and brought joy to all around her. She would have an instant connection with people and would touch their lives in her unique and special way. There was something about her that was infectious, making people feel pure love and happiness that will be deeply missed. Christy’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her in future memories of “Christy would have loved this…” She will live on in our hearts forever.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date. We thank you for your prayers, condolences, kind words, and support during this very difficult time.
