

Arthur Henry Kniep, 88, of Harrisville, went to be with his wife in heaven the evening of the 19th of June 2024 at Regency at Lansing West in Lansing, MI. The son of George and Arlene (Hooper) Kniep, he was born on August 25, 1935 in New York, New York.Though he spent the majority of his life in Harrisville, he spent his final three years in Grand Ledge, close to his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Art was the second oldest of ten Kniep siblings. He grew up in Hartford, Connecticut. He joined the Air Force in 1956 and traveled to Pakistan, Japan, Italy, Alaska, Texas, Kansas, Florida, Georgia and Michigan where he met and married his wife of 38 years, Kathryn Faith Fritz Kniep and had one daughter, Katrina Ellen Kniep (Newman). Art retired after 20 years in the Air Force and settled down in Harrisville, Michigan.
After retirement he worked for the City of Harrisville, The Alcona County Review and acted as caretaker to many summer houses on lake Huron. We always said he had keys to the whole city. He was a member of St. Andrews by the Lake Episcopal Church, the Depot Committee, the Harrisville Farmer's Market and volunteered for the Arts Council and the City of Harrisville.
Art enjoyed an active lifestyle fishing, hiking, camping, playing tennis, bowling, creating artwork for many churches and businesses in Harrisville and being an active member of both the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. He enjoyed being an active member of the Harrisville community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Arlene Hooper Kniep; wife of 38 years, Kathryn (Fritz) Kniep; and his son, Robert (Bobby) Henry Kniep. Surviving are his children, Kathryn Joan Libby, her children, Jessica and Jeremy Walker; and Katrina Newman and her children: Kaiden, Phoenix and Gryphon Wouters.
Arthur loved painting, listening to music, hiking Mt Washington with his brothers, playing with his grandchildren and being outside in nature. Although we will miss him dearly we are so glad he is not suffering and that he will join his loved ones in heaven.
Memorial services will be announced when finalized and will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Harrisville, Michigan.
