Andrew Michael Carlson passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 39 due to complications from long standing health challenges related to Type 1 diabetes. He is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Born on September 2, 1986, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Andrew was lovingly known as "Drew" to his family while growing up. He was homeschooled and later attended Grand Rapids Community College, where he continued to pursue his interests and develop his many talents.
Andrew was a creative soul with a curious mind and a generous heart. He found joy in photography, swing dancing, computers, and cooking, and he was always eager to learn something new or share his knowledge with others. Whether behind a camera, preparing a meal, or helping someone solve a problem, Andrew brought thoughtfulness and enthusiasm to all he did.
Those who knew Andrew will remember his kindness, creativity, and genuine friendship. He had a servant's heart, cared deeply for others, and enjoyed exploring new experiences. His warm spirit and unique gifts touched many lives, and he will be remembered with love and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Andrew is survived by his mother, Laura Carlson; father, Jeff Carlson (Nadine); sisters, Catherine Carlson, Sonja Jobson (Caleb Jobson), and Erica Carlson; nephews, Carter and Hunter Jobson; stepbrothers, Davis Martell and Giffin Martell; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) or Easterseals, organizations dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with disabilities and chronic health conditions.
