

William “Bill” J. Riley, 79, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
Bill was born on July 26, 1946, in northern Minnesota, where he spent most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked as a millwright for Blandin Paper Company for 30 years.
One of his favorite places to spend time was Leech Lake, where he enjoyed the peace, beauty, and time with family and friends. In his final years, he resided at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where he touched many lives and formed meaningful friendships with both the staff and his fellow residents.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Kori Barker, and her husband, Dan Barker; his grandson, Andrew Riley; his two stepsons, Todd Stumo and Tim Stumo, and their mother, Betty Jo Riley; his sister, Kathleen Card, and her husband, Norm Card; and his brothers, Michael Riley and his wife, Bonnie Riley, and James Riley.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, William Joseph Riley.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, his ashes will be scattered at sea during a ceremonial service off the coast of San Diego in honor of his service in the United States Navy.
