It is with heavy hearts, we announce Wayne (Red) Brodersen, age 89, from Chisago City, Minnesota, passed away on March 15, 2025. Red was born May 5, 1935 in New Ulm, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school and then proudly served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Marines, and was a Korean War veteran. Red attended St. Louis University, where he obtained his Airline Mechanical Degree and later his pilot's license.
Red was a first rate Airline Mechanic mainly with Western Airlines ("The Only Way To Fly") and ultimately with Delta Airlines. The airlines were an important part of Red's life and especially significant because that is where he met and later married his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Dee. Red was especially known for his big, hearty laugh and he and Sharon shared a true love. They enjoyed travels throughout the world, but Red's favorite place was just being home. Red loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and many friends. He also loved being on the lake pontooning, enjoying a BBQ, sharing stories, playing games, and the day always needed to be topped off with ice cream!
Red was "Mister Fix-it" and could fix whatever needed to be fixed. Red was a Master Wood Craftsman. Whatever you needed, he could design it and make it with wood. His home is filled with his many woodworks of art, from pantry cabinet, huge computer and desk set, to frames and name plates. Family and friends enjoyed many wood momentos that he has made just for them.
Red was a lifelong Vikings fan and he always said, "Just once before I die, let the Vikings win the Super Bowl"...sadly, we are still waiting for that.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Vida Brodersen and bonus son, Chad Wivell.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Monica (Alden) Bowman, Melissa (Jeff) Stepanek, Alan (Lisa) Wivell, and Colin Wivell; grandchildren, Corey and Andrew Pratt, Abby, Daniel and Hannah Bowman, and Breanna Wivell.
A Celebration of Life in honor of our dear Red will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 pm at American Legion Post 225, 355 W Broadway, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
