Born April 28, 1947, Tom was the second son of Edward Paul Hudoba and Julie Ann Majkrzak. He attended St. Austin grade school and De La Salle High School. After 1 year at the College of St. Thomas, he enrolled at Dunwoody Institute and earned a diploma in the first ever Computer Technology class. He was then immediately drafted into the US Army. Tom volunteered for the Officer Candidate program, finished 12th in a class of 120, and in July 1970 was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He spent the bulk of his service years at Fort Meade, MD. After discharge, he worked for Sperry Univac during the day and at night earned an associate degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the U of M. Tom spent 19 years as a computer test engineer at Sperry Univac, 13 years as a computer science contract engineer, and 9 years as a test engineer for Cardinal Health before retiring.
Mary (Keiser), Tom’s wife for more than 50 years, was the love of his life—but golf was a close second. A hole-in-one, many trophies, Men’s Club Championship, and Player of the Year awards attest to this. His hobbies included woodworking, a breweriana collection, model railroading, bowling, cribbage, and Rack-O. He loved high-performance cars and has owned a Chevelle and 3 Corvettes. Tom was a very involved father who coached his two sons in youth football, T-ball, baseball, basketball, and Cub Scouts. Tom left us on May 31, 2022, having lived a rich life full of family, friends, wonderful experiences and cherished memories. He was fiercely independent and always kept a positive attitude. He loved life and had a great one.
Tom is survived by Mary and sons Brett (Alicia Sauer) and Jason; grandchildren Mason, Milan, Urban, and Beringer; brothers Kenneth (Gloria) and Steven (Shimin Zhang) and sisters Kathy (Bob Emerton) and Teresa (Terry Wander); and many Keiser and Hudoba relatives, in-laws, nieces, and nephews and many dear and lifelong friends. Special goodbye to Bob, Mike, Gregg, and the whole “Golf Gang.” An extra special thank you to T&T for the special love and support throughout his medical journey. Tom has been cremated and will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a private service.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 29, 5-8pm at the Golden Valley Country Club. Come share a hug, a story or memory, and have a drink on Tom to toast his memory and celebrate his life well lived.
