Shirley Mae Niederluecke of Wayzata, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on June 24, 1932 in St.
Louis, Missouri where she grew up and after high school met the love of her life and husband, Earle John Niederluecke. They were married for over 48 years until Earle’s death in 2002. After high school, Shirley worked for the military and eventually joined Earle’s law practice as a legal assistant while she raised five children in a labor of love that continued until her last days.
Shirley was the proud and respected matriarch of a family that included five children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and spouses, and five great-grandchildren. Shirley loved family gatherings, puzzles, and card games. She enjoyed beating friends and family alike in a game of Hand and Foot or Sequence. No matter her circumstances, Shirley’s spirit always shined brightly and she brought joy to all who had the blessing to know her. Shirley taught and lived the true meaning of family each and every day of her life.
Shirley was preceded in death by husband, Earle; sister, Betty Jean Corrier; mother, Emma Marie Charlotte Riley; and father, George Joseph Riley.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Cheryl Pexa) Niederluecke, Mark (Sheri) Niederluecke, Bob (Becky) Niederluecke, Patrice (Steve) Walker, and Kurt (Sandi) Niederluecke; grandchildren, Chelsea (DJ) Steinmeyer, Ellen (Michael) Bastian, Emma (Jake Kelly), Elizabeth Quinn (Jake) Anderson, Andrew (Callie Larson), Jake (Hannah McNeal), Jessica Walker England, Adam (Gloria Cantu) Walker, Robert Walker, Max (Lauren), and Berit (Eamonn Casey); great-grandchildren, Tucker, Charlotte, and Finn Steinmeyer, and Mason and Harper Bastian; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Westwood Community Church, 3121 Westwood Drive, Chanhassen, MN 55331, on Friday, February 7th, with visitation beginning at 10 am, service starting at 11 am, and lunch and hospitality following the service.
