Sherry L Early

Sherry L. Early passed away July 16, 2023, at Benedictine Memory Care at the age of 86.

She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: children Sam, Lisa (Kurt), Matt (Janis), Laura (Jeff); grandchildren Elizabeth, Sebastian, Garrett, Devon, Amanda, Hannah, Kyle, Katie, Samantha; great-grandchildren Cameron, Dominic, Marnie.

Preceded in death, sister Charlene and granddaughter Michelle.

Sherry was smart and independent in nature, thrived on “bumming around” with her friends, loved crocheting, reading non-fiction books and gossip magazines, and playing Trivial Pursuit with her family – and always winning! As a youth in Akron, OH she was a majorette in school, loved going to movies and adored her father. As an adult, she worked as a podiatrist’s assistant until she decided to go back to college in her early 40’s and obtained an RN degree. She later left that field and worked in accounting until she retired at age 72.

Sherry was diagnosed with Dementia in 2018 which eventually led her to reside in an Assisted Living facility in 2019. As her condition worsened, she moved to the memory care floor in 2021. After a fall this past April (which resulted in a broken hip), despite surgery and physical therapy she began to decline at an unusually rapid rate and finally lost the struggle. Although her family finds sadness in her death, they also find relief and comfort that she no longer is stricken with this cruel life robbing disease.

A special thank you to the entire Caretenders Hospice of Minnesota team and the amazing memory care staff at Steeple Pointe that surrounded Sherry and her family throughout her courageous battle with Dementia.
