Sharon Kay Mason

Born in Bemidji, to John and Molly, she lived her early years in and around Tenstrike and Hines, and graduated from Blackduck High School.

She later graduated from St Cloud Beauty College and worked at Montgomery Ward in St Paul, before traveling with the St Paul Sportsmen’s Club, to the Bahamas, where she met Bill, the love of her life.

They shared 58 years of marriage, along with 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Sharon enjoyed homemaking, gardening, sewing, crafting, and excelled at hospitality, hosting family and friends throughout her years.

She used her ‘spare’ time for various communities of interest: 4H Leader for Eureka 47 and volunteered at the Dakota County Fair, where she also was the Needlework Superintendent; volunteered and judged at the MN State Fair for the Bee and Honey division; served as President and Newsletter Editor for the Mn Hobby Beekeepers Association; Lakeville Community Ed crochet instructor; and taught many people how to crochet, knit, craft, sew, garden, can and freeze fruits, jams, jellies and vegetables.

She enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren, along with countless blankets and quilts for friends and family, as well as over 100 quilt tops for a local church group.

Sharon prided herself as a domestic engineer, managing a busy home and large gardens, all while also enjoying a good game of scrabble, Sunday’s crossword puzzle, being an avid reader, and enjoying a variety of music genres, most notably classic country and bagpipes.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Bill; Daughter Mary (Kevin): Son, David (Deb); grandchildren, Jason (Allie), Jeffrey (Lyndsey), Nora, and Nolan; great grandchildren, Amelia and Rowan; brothers, Keith and Wes; nephew Ryan, niece Erina, beloved extended family members, and cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, September 13 from 1-4pm, at the New Market Township Hall, 8950 230th Street East, Lakeville, MN.
