Shane Brunner, age 36, of St. Cloud, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was born November 11, 1988, to Mary Rose Zahratka and Thomas Brunner in St. Cloud, the second of two children.
Shane attended Madison Elementary, North Junior High, Sauk Rapids High School, and graduated from GREC in 2007. Starting in his early years and traveling with him throughout life, Shane was free-spirited and did not bend to society's ways of behaving or thinking. He always lived to the beat of his own drum. A daredevil at heart, Shane spent many action packed weekends throughout his younger years at his father's house, always seeking the next adventure, no matter the season.
During those seasons of life, you could find Shane biking the country roads from sun up until sun down. He was never alone as his sister and step siblings were always racing to keep up. Shane always gave the “thumbs up” to his father as a signal to go faster so he could fly across the waves on an inner tube. Shane was always up for a good fishing contest.
Summers were spent going on numerous road/camping trips with Mom and Mike in the big blue van also known as, “the beast”. He always waited for mom to hit the curb so everyone would go flying. Shane enjoyed spending time on the farms with his grandma, aunties, and cousins.
Shane enjoyed garage sales, music, and video games. He enjoyed wearing his large collection of sunglasses, hats, and shoes. Shane was a spice connoisseur and an all season griller who made it a point to always bring his mom a sample plate. Having a sense of humor like no other, he always brought smiles to his moms’ face. Shane was prideful in the upkeep of his yard.
They say a man’s best friend is their dog and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Shane loved his beloved Angel and when Angel passed, a part of Shane left with her. Shane loved his cats (Vinny and Skinny) who were always with him, wherever he went, they went.
Shane had a big heart and helped many, especially those who were facing their own hardships. He and his mom had a very special bond and were always there for one another. Despite being faced with adversity, Shane was resilient and he did the best he could.
Shane is survived by his mom and dad; son, Dallas; sister, Max; aunts, uncles, cousins, and his extended family and friends. Shane is preceded in death by his grandparents and uncles.
We take comfort in knowing that Shane is surrounded by eternal light and free from all distress. May Shane rest in peace.
