February 3, 1934 (Estherville, IA) - May 10, 2023 (Good Samaritan Home, Waconia, MN)
After Ron Hunt painted and sold his first oils in 1959, he painted, drew, and sold his work throughout his entire life.
Self-taught and widely traveled, he was as much at home bicycling and painting the hills of Ireland as he was on a street corner in Natchez or a Caribbean island or the coast of Mexico.
His commissions included works for the Minnesota Historical Society, Mayo Clinic Fellows Association, American Medical Women’s Association, and the Minnesota Bar Association. He produced historic calendars for counties and towns in six upper Midwest states, usually as fundraisers for non-profit organizations.
Moreover, his lithographs, paintings, and drawings hang in all 50 states and more than 20 foreign countries.
Ron most recently lived in Lake City, MN until his health took a turn for the worse.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Clarence Hunt and Maribel Ludora (Mitchell) Hunt of West Concord, MN, an infant sister, brother Eldon Hunt, wives Doris (Johnson) Hunt and Suzy Hunt (formerly of Mantorville, Minnesota).
He is survived by wife/partner Billie Hunt, of Lake City, MN, daughter Suzanne Hunt and son Daniel (Claudia) Hunt, grandsons Samuel (Sarah) and Andrew Hunt, and nieces and nephews.
