Bob, a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, community member, and friend, 83, of Monticello, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 18, 1942 in rural Monticello, where he resided for most of his life, except for where he lived during his time with the U.S. Air Force. Bob graduated from Monticello High School in 1962. He worked with his father, Laurence, for a few years before proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1971 as a radar specialist. On Nov. 4, 1967, Beverly J. Harstad of Monticello and Robert L. Weiman were joined in holy marriage. The couple were blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Karin.
After being honorably discharged at the end of his term, Bob became a well-known and trusted insurance agent in Monticello for many years. He started with MSI Insurance, and was later with The Monticello Agency. You’d never go see Bob unless you had time to spare as he was a talker and would engage in conversation with you for hours! Bob was a sports enthusiast. He played on the Monticello Town Baseball Team, for which he later umpired, and was on both a singles and couples bowling league in Monticello. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was in a fishing league. He cherished every minute hunting and fishing year-round with his family and friends, especially deer hunting in Hill City, MN. Bob was a 55+ year member of the Monticello American Legion. He served with pride and honor on the Board of Directors, the Honor Guard, and was the Legion Chaplain. Bob was a member of the Monticello Rod and Gun Club where he received an award for providing 50+ years of Firearm Safety Instruction in Monticello. Bob was honored to be a part of the Capable Partners Hunting Program, where physically-challenged sportsmen are paired with able-bodied volunteers. He loved to share his passion of hunting and fishing with others and to bring them joy. Bob spent hours with a binocular watching the wildlife along the Mighty Mississippi. Our hope is he is with his loved ones in Heaven hunting and fishing. He loved playing cards, especially cribbage, with family and friends. Anybody that wanted to take him on in a game could plan on an entertaining time.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bev Weiman; daughter Kristin (Weiman) Skrien and husband Doug of Lake Elmo, MN; daughter Karin (Weiman) Locy and husband Kent of Belleville, WI; granddaughters Lauren (Locy) Poppe and husband Tyler, Alli (Locy) Reinhard and husband Parker, Sidney Weiman Skrien, and Abigail Weiman Skrien; sister Pat Rask; sister-in-law Judy Stokes; nieces Angie (Stokes) Hood, Debbie (Stokes) Ahrens, Jessica Stokes, Shellie (Rask) Middendorf, Heidi (Rask) Hanson, and Heather (Rask) Rasmussen.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Gen Weiman; parents-in-law Lester and Ruth Harstad; brothers-in-law Larry Rask and Gordy Stokes; niece Mitzi (Rask) Bray; many uncles and aunts, and many dear friends. Bob is dearly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
