Robert (Bob) William Kubic of Osseo, MN, passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, and grew up in Robbinsdale, the youngest of four children. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Erhardt (Scott) and Christine Watson; his sons, Daniel (Sarah) and Paul (Debbie); his sisters, Lorraine Crass and Mary Lou Quimby; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchilren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen; his beloved sons, Mark and Gerald; his parents, William and Anna; his sister, Shirley; and his great-grandson, Matthew Ahrendt.
Bob graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1952 where he was an all-State wrestler. He enlisted in the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division for 5 years in the mid-50s. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Dooley, in 1958 and bought his first laundry and drycleaning business with her in 1973. Together they owned and managed four locations while Bob also ran a custom drapery and blind business. They sold their last business in 1992 and Bob went to work for his largest competitor, Pilgrim Cleaners, as their lead maintenance technician at their many locations throughout the Twin Cities. He was known for his ability to build or fix almost anything and took great pride in remodeling their Brooklyn Park home and working on projects in his large garage/workshop. He was also generous with his time and talents whenever his kids needed help fixing or building anything. He especially enjoyed model trains and vintage cars, and spent many years on the golf course enjoying rounds with family and friends. He loved traveling with Mary Ellen in their motorhome, visiting nearly every state and making several trips to Canada to enjoy time with his Canadian relatives whom he held so dear. Bob and Mary Ellen especially enjoyed escaping the harsh Minnesota winters to their cozy park model home in Yuma, AZ.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church (9100 93rd Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445) on Tuesday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church, with a luncheon to follow the mass. A private burial will occur at a later date.
Donations are preferred in lieu of flowers and may be given in his memory to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church or Caring and Sharing Hands in Minneapolis.
