

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Dick” Schiltz, who departed this life on Tuesday, November 19th, at the age of 96.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian; his brother, Louis (Mathilda); son-in-law, Roger Beagley; and his former wife of 37 years, Lois Schiltz.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Linda (Tim) Rea, Rick, John (Chris), Greg (Colleen), and "#4" son, Bob (Sue) Meier; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dick was a man of resilience and determination, always fighting to the end. His great sense of humor and love for family, friends, and Dilly Bars brought joy to all who knew him. He took pride in attending as many family functions as possible, cherishing those moments of connection. Born and raised in St. Paul, Dick graduated from Harding High School and remained deeply rooted in his community. He was a dedicated member of Guardian Angels Church and a founding member of the Men's Club. He also served as an East County Line Volunteer Fireman, reflecting his selfless commitment to helping others.
Professionally, Dick worked as a foreman at Whirlpool until the company relocated. He then continued his career at the Lake Elmo Inn before retiring. A passionate outdoorsman, Dick found solace and joy in fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking. He was lovingly referred to as “Mr. Fix-It” and “Dr. Dick,” as family and friends turned to him for solutions and advice. His interest in natural healing was a testament to his curiosity and dedication to lifelong learning.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Woodbury Care Center and Boulder Ponds for their compassionate care during Dick’s final days. Dick’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and perseverance. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at 11:00 am, with remembrance time one hour prior, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 4th Street North Oakdale, MN 55128. Lunch will follow Mass.
Rest in peace, Dick—you were a fighter, a fixer, and a friend to all.
