

Richard Wallace McFerran of Plymouth, MN passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on July 9, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois.
He grew up in Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from Parkrose High School and Portland State University. Richard has lived in Minnesota for the last 57 years.
Richard (Dick) McFerran worked as the Chief Financial Officer for the Gelco Corporation. He also worked as an accountant for the Carlson Companies, UHaul, and IVM.
He was actively involved in family activities and gatherings, and he always loved a good dinner surrounded by friends and family. He was a kind and generous person with a wonderful sense of humor, a brilliant mind, and a great sense of responsibility.
A jazz aficionado, he enjoyed going to concerts, and listening to some of his favorites, such as Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, and many more. He had a great voice and enjoyed singing, especially at piano bars.
He loved golfing, bowling, playing cards, and doing puzzles. An avid sports fan, he watched football, golf, basketball, the Olympics, and he especially enjoyed seeing his grandkids play hockey and participate in a variety of sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Frank McFerran, brother, Ron McFerran, and daughter Virginia (Gina) Burke.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginger) McFerran; his brother Denny McFerran; his daughters: Kelly Edens, Kate Angellotti (Skip) Lisa Birkholz (Jeff), Shannon Burke (Steve); his grandchildren: John Edens (Candace), Emily D’Alessandro (Eric), Ashley Edens, Tyrell Edens, Danyele Edens, Sarah Lodge, Carmen Appel (Kevin), Chelsea Lodge, Andrew Birkholz, (Tippy), Josh Birkholz, Sam McCallum (Sammy), Ruby McCallum, Keegan Hoffer, Kylie Hoffer; and his great-grandchildren: Oliver, Titus, Nolan, Quentin, Sloan, Vivian, Banks, and Parks.
The family would like to thank staff at North Memorial Hospital, New Perspective, and Brighton Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at The Metropolitan in Golden Valley on July 12, 2026, from 11:30 AM -2:30 PM.
