Ramon Alberto Serrano

Dr. Ramón A. Serrano, aged 65, was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Benita González Y Medina and Ramón Serrano Lamort. Ramón, a New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, spent his adolescent years in NYC before his family relocated to Camuy, Puerto Rico. There, he attended the Universidad de Puerto Rico and went on to become an elementary and middle school teacher.

In 1990, Ramón seized the opportunity to attend Penn State University, earning both a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. in Education. After graduating in 1994, Ramon moved the family to St. Cloud, MN, where he began his long and distinguished career as a Professor of Education at St. Cloud State University, leaving a lasting impact on numerous aspiring educators. Ramon retired from St. Cloud State in 2022.

In 2006, Ramon was fortunate to meet the love of his life, Lynn, whom he married in 2007.

Ramon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Zuania Lis Serrano (Jose Medina), Alberto Ramon Serrano (fiancé Erin McFarland), Antonio “Toni” Carlos Serrano Rivera, Cody Steffen and Michael Steffen, as well as “Papa Món’s” favorite granddaughter, Adriana.

A Celebration of Life for Ramon to be held in July. Final date to be determined.
