Peggy Marie Smutka

Peggy Smutka of West St. Paul MN passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 at the age of 72. She was born on September 27, 1951 in Esko, MN.

She worked in accounting for the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Corrections until her retirement.

She was actively involved in giving back to the community through DARTS, volunteering in various roles including the Airport, State Fair, and Superbowl 52 crew.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Florence Baker.

She is survived by her husband Bob Smutka; siblings George Baker, Beverly Sonneburg (David), Sandy Fossum (Bob), Sally Lunda (Jim); in laws Michael Smutka (Jackie), Mark Smutka (Thuy); friends, and many nieces and nephews she loved and cherished who called her Poco, as well as the neighborhood children who called her Miss Peggy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rank and the care team at Regions Hospital St. Paul for the care and compassion they showed Peggy in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Church of St. Joseph West St. Paul on Oct 24th, 2023 at 11:00AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00AM. Lunch to follow service at the Church.
