Paul Leslie Fredrickson

Paul was born June 28, 1961, and passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on August 5, 2026, at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Fredrickson; brother, Michael; his many aunts, uncles, and several cousins. He is survived by seventeen first cousins.

Paul lived in the same home in Bloomington, MN, for sixty years. Although both Paul and Mike were born with developmental disabilities, both graduated from Kennedy H.S. in 1979. Paul rode his bicycle to work at Lyndale Garden Center for many years, and he held various other jobs when able.

Paul often sat out front of the house to wave and chat with neighbors as they passed by. Thanks go to many neighbors, friends, and relatives who helped out, allowing Paul and Mike, “the boys”, to remain in the family home for 21 years after their mother passed away.

Paul was known for his sense of humor, his amazing memory for details, his ability to solve math problems instantly without pen and paper, and for being very organized. He loved animals and had several beloved dogs over the years. He enjoyed watching pro wrestling on TV and viewing movies from his vast DVD collection, especially action movies and comedies.

Paul was always looking for a project to work on or ways to help others. This often included using power tools in the garage, thus, his short finger! He was very resourceful, and would usually figure out a way to get things done. With his 6’8” stature, he'd shovel the driveway while sitting in a wheelchair to “save my back” and avoid falling on the ice. He also came up with a unique way to dispose of large objects, like furniture, by cutting them into small pieces to throw away in the bin over many weeks.

When COVID settled down, Paul was able to move into Eagan's New Perspective in August of 2021. It was a huge change, but he adapted to community living and made many friends among residents and staff. Paul liked to visit and joke around and became, in the words of staff and other residents, an “icon” in the community, a “fixture” sitting in his favorite chair in the lobby doing his word-find puzzles, and according to the maintenance man, Paul provided “extra security” helping residents and visitors at the front door, giving directions to guests and delivery people, holding doors open when emergency vehicles came... anything he could do to help out! Paul recently said he intended to live at New Perspective for the rest of his life.

Paul was laid to rest on August 25, 2026, near his parents and brother at Sunset Cemetery in Minneapolis at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
