Neal Francis Dalen, 79, of Edina, MN, after living 47 years in Minnetonka, MN passed away on March 6, 2018. The funeral service will be held at Cross View Lutheran Church, Edina, MN with visitation beginning at 9:30 am and the service at 11:00 am on March 10, 2018. Pastor Steve Wheeler of Cross View Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Bertha, MN at a later date.
Neal was born in Nelson, MN on December 13, 1938. He graduated from St Louis Park High School and attended both St. Cloud State and The University of Minnesota.
Neal was married to Ellen Ruth Haase on June 3, 1967 in Bertha, MN, they were married 50+ years.
Neal accepted a position with the Tyrone Guthrie Theater in 1963, where he spent 14 years creating artistic sets and props. This included a total of 53 years working under the IATSE Local 13. Starting in 1974, Neal began working out of his own studio designing and sculpting special projects for TV, the Theater Industry and private commissions. With a focus on wild life art. Neal enjoyed Golf, Hunting, Fishing, and spending time with his grandkids and close family and friends.
His family would describe him as a renaissance man based on his work as a Professional Stagehand, modeling for Eleanor Moore and Susan Wehmann, and his work creating his wildlife art.
Neal is survived by Wife Ellen, Sons Eric (Kelly) and Mark (Tashana), grandchildren Kody, Ty, Kayla, Gavin, Kate and Parker, brother Dennis (Marcia) and sister Elaine (Mike), as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Neal is preceded in death by his father Clarence, Mother Frances, brother Clarence Lewis (Swede) and Sister-in-Law Mary Jane.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Cross View Lutheran Church and Frauenshuh Cancer Center. The family of Neal Dalen wishes to thank Park Nicollet Hospice for their care and compassion.
