Nancy Wagner of Plymouth, MN, died peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024. She was born in 1935 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Gertrude; sister, Patricia; and brother, James. She is survived by husband, Joe, of 68 years; daughter, Kim; sons, Wayne, Russ (Roberta), and Greg; her sister, (and best friend) Sally; and her grandchildren, Alison, Alex, Brandon, Mattie, Brooke, and Ellie; and great-granddaughter, Oaklynn.
In 1954 Nancy started working at WTCN (now KARE 11) where she met her husband Joe. She worked as a switchboard operator, record librarian, and secretary to the news anchors. As her children were growing, she worked as a cashier at Valley Drug in Golden Valley. Then she joined forces with Joe at Mid-Co A/V (formally Mid-Co TV Systems) where she was a self-taught, early adopter of computerized accounting systems, and with great success, ran the administrative side of the business.
In retirement she was passionate about world travel. With her sister Sally, she took a 90-day cruise around the world and a one-month Amazon River cruise. With her husband Joe and sister Sally, she took frequent Caribbean cruises in search of the best beaches and snorkel locations. They also spent winters in Mexico and Fort Meyers Beach. To stay healthy, she was diligent about almost daily water aerobics classes at Plymouth Creek Athletic Club.
She set a new high bar for grandparenthood! Her grandkids had so much fun hanging out with “Grandma Nan” that they would have a “Grandma Hangover” and wouldn’t want to go home. To her complete and utter delight, she met her first great-grandchild on Christmas Eve, Mattie and Caleb’s 4-week-old daughter Oaklynn.
We encourage extended family and friends to share their favorite “Nan Stories” during the Open Mic part of the ceremony.
