Mitch spent many of his growing up years on the family farm in Milaca, MN. As an adult, he learned the barbering trade and became a successful barber and hairstylist in St. Cloud before moving to Colorado and on to Los Angeles where he spent the next several years studying the game of golf and perfecting his own game while working as a caddie to the Hollywood elite at the Rivera Country Club. During this high point in his life, Mitch collected countless stories of the rich and famous, witnessing first hand their lives humbled by the game of golf. Many of his escapades are detailed in his book, "Confessions of a Caddie" (2018) Meadville, PA: Fulton Books.
Returning to Minnesota, Mitch turned his passion for style into a career as a haberdasher at Knight's Chamber Clothiers, where he was an expert at tailoring any suit to the needs of the customer and the occasion.
Creative and artistic, Mitch would sing in the shower, along with the car radio, and just walking down the street. He was full of creative ideas for film, television, and books. Mitch was also a voracious reader throughout his life, teaching his younger brother to read, keeping informed of current events, and storing up useful information to impress friends, family, and co-workers with his knowledge of trivia. In retirement, he enjoyed the game show "Jeopardy," and would nearly always have the right answers, regardless of the category.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Tony. Survivors include his siblings Marsha Lunt, and John Mesko, nieces Jessica Sanders, Gabrielle Mesko, and Sarah Mesko, as well as many along the way who enjoyed his smile and his laugh. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
