Michael “Mike” Dennis Kachman, 83, passed away on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 22, 1943 to Elaine and Michael Kachman, Mike lived a full and adventurous life defined by the love for his wife and family.
Mike was a proud graduate of St. Cloud State University and a salesman throughout his career. His quick wit and ready sense of humor were his calling cards, entertaining his family and making fast connections with new people. His career took the family on an adventure of its own from the Midwest to states out east and down south, giving them a wide variety of experiences in different parts of the country.
On August 30, 1969, Mike married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Haley, who has been his steadfast partner through every chapter since. Their marriage, spanning more than five decades, was a cornerstone of family life and a testament to commitment, laughter, and enduring love.
A lifelong athlete and fierce competitor, Mike’s passion for sports shaped much of his life. He brought his competitive spirit to everything he did, from his days playing football at St. Cloud State University to decades spent on the tennis courts and golf courses. His love for the game extended far beyond his own athletic pursuits. Mike was a passionate fan of the Timberwolves, Vikings, and especially the Twins, spending joyful afternoons cheering them on at Target Field alongside his wife, Mary. Mike passed his fiery, competitive nature down to his children and grandchildren. Whether he was coaching from the sidelines or cheering from the bleachers, he was always his family’s biggest fan and most dedicated supporter at every single game.
Mike had a gift for making everyone he met feel at ease. Whether cheering on his children or simply sharing a story around the dinner table, he brought energy and sincerity. Those who knew him best remember a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and never lost his sense of humor.
He will be profoundly missed by his family, his friends, and all whose lives he touched, and his memory will be carried forward in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Elaine and Michael Kachman; his brother, Bruce Kachman; and his sister, Terresa Machek.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Catherine; his four children: Chris Kachman (Angie), Jon Kachman, Bill Kachman (Tia), and Katie Bradley (Steve); and his grandchildren, Max and Violet Kachman, and Aubrie Lee Cozatt. The family eagerly awaits the arrival of a fourth grandchild, due July 10, 2026 — a new life Mike will watch over from above. He is also survived by his sisters Jackie, Jan (Ted), Cindy (Kurt).
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Mike Kachman’s life on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, located at 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, MN. The visitation will start at 10:00 a.m., with a service celebrating Mike’s memory following at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided at the facility immediately following the service.
