Merril David Trone

Merril David Trone of Luck Wisconsin passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 22nd, 2023 in Cumberland Healthcare Center at the Age 73.

David was born on January 22nd, 1950 to Alice (Fellows) and Archie Trone in Red Wing Minnesota. David grew up in Red Wing, South Saint Paul, and McGregor Minnesota. He graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1968, then enlisted in the Army and attended OCS. In 1970 he served in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant attached to the 101st Airborne Division. While serving in Vietnam he was awarded a Bronze Star. David was ultimately promoted to the rank of Captain.

David trained at Dunwoody Institute and trained as an automotive technician, a field in which he worked until he retired.

David enjoyed playing softball, fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles.

David was one of 11 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Melford, Darryl, Dwayne, Michael, and Allen.

David is survived by his children Christopher of Minneapolis, Sarah Trone Garriott (William) of West Des Moines Iowa, and Thor (Brianne) of Carlton MN. Three Grandchildren: Ian, Madalyn, and August. His Siblings: Arvid, Karen, Leroy, Donna Mae, and Judy.

A Service for David will be held on August 19th 2023 at 1PM in McGregor MN at the Woodland Cemetery. A Meal will follow at the McGregor VFW.
