1 John 3:18 (The Living Bible Version)
"Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them and show it by our actions."
Marsha Korte, our Lord’s good and faithful servant who lived by the words of 1 John 3:18, went to join our Lord on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the age of 71. Those who knew and loved Marsha knew she lived with many physical ailments and on September 9, Marsha died after suffering cardiac arrest in her home; emergency personnel on site could not revive her. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being planned. Details will be shared when available.
“Are you ready? I am,” Marsha would say as she shared her faith in Christ with others. She loved our Lord fiercely and had no fear about death because it meant joining her Savior in eternal life. Marsha was born in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Truman and Myrtle Korte (both deceased) and sister to Karen (also deceased). Marsha attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, a university affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree (B.S.ED.) and used her education for church work and teaching in several elementary schools.
A Minnesota resident for over 25 years who lived in Burnsville, MN, at the time of her death, Marsha spent time in several states as a Lutheran elementary school teacher. Marsha accepted calls/teaching offers to serve Lutheran Schools in Oklahoma, Missouri, Alabama, Illinois, and Minnesota. Among the schools she taught were St. Paul’s Lutheran in Enid, OK; Salem Lutheran School in Farrar, MO; Grace Lutheran School in Huntsville, AL; and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Prior Lake, MN. Although she taught elementary education, she was not scared away by teens and often served as youth counselor for church youth groups of the church communities she served. Marsha’s magic with all she encountered centered around acceptance, love, guidance and fierce loyalty. She was a “straight shooter” and could be counted on to always “tell it like it is” – even if situations were hard to hear and face. Her Christian love and support of others were her superpowers. She often taught more than reading, math, and science; she helped her students grow as people and often helped them navigate life. Throughout her life, Marsha amassed students, who then became friends, and who eventually became family.
Marsha’s work life also included several years with the U.S. Postal Service, and she tutored students up until the time she died. Marsha endured many struggles, yet radiated pure joy in her interactions with everyone around her and never let her physical ailments deter her from setting goals and achieving whatever she set her mind to. Committed to lifelong learning, in her later years she worked toward a Master’s degree in accounting. At the time of her passing, she was still spreading joy and tutoring in the area.
Numerous cousins and a host of friends will dearly miss Marsha.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Marsha Korte's resurrection in Christ will be at 11 AM CST on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Redemption Lutheran Church, 927 Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55420 For those wishing to participate remotely, the church has provided the following link to watch the service: https://youtube.com/live/_CfziHuGvDg?feature=share
