Lucy Karels

Lucy Kay Karels of Inver Grove Heights, MN passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the age of 82. She was born on March 21, 1941 in Superior, WI. She grew up there with her six brothers and sisters. She had many great memories that included ice skating, her bike, trains, and all the fun she had with her siblings and friends. She moved to the Twin Cities after High School to continue her education. Lucy worked for many years for both the Minnesota Grocers Association and Minnesota Mutual Insurance where she retired from.

Lucy and her husband, Jerome, enjoyed 56 years together and raised eight children. They had a life filled with winters in Yuma, AZ, camping, travel, bowling, hiking, racing, car and air shows, coffee with friends and anything that included their kids and grandkids. Lucy lived a life filled with joy, love and laughter. She left a legacy of joy, love and laughter.

Lucy was reunited with her husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, and parents. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings and many friends will remember and miss her forever.

The family would like to thank Regions Hospital and Health Partners Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Lucy. Her children are honored and grateful to have been able to care and spend time with her as she moved through the last chapters of her story until she went home to her Savior.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church, Inver Grove Heights, MN. The family will greet visitors an hour before Mass and at a luncheon after. She will be interred with Jerome at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights.
