It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of Kyle Jennifer Scott (born Jennifer Dukes) of Golden Valley, Minnesota, who, after a dogged two and a quarter year battle with ovarian cancer, decided on Friday, November 20, 2025, at the age of 56, that she could no longer compete with life’s demands.
Born on Friday, June 13th, 1969 in Hammond, Indiana, Kyle was a force of nature from the start. A proud Purdue University alum with an undergrad degree in Psychology and Women's Studies, she spent two decades making her mark at Optum and United HealthGroup, later lending her formidable talents in health care compliance to Prime Therapeutics, Health eFx, and AiRCare Health. But Kyle wasn't one to rest on her laurels. At 43, proving that age is truly just a number (and likely fueled by an impressive amount of Diet Coke), she earned her law degree from Hamline University. We're fairly certain her professors still talk about her.
Kyle's life was a masterclass in living fully. She served on the boards of the YMCA and the City of Golden Valley, and, in a move that perfectly encapsulated her trailblazing spirit, even founded a business dedicated to empowering women with firearm safety. Her curiosity knew no bounds, whether dissecting case law, gaining new certificates, devouring novels, or exploring the depths of music and politics and having laughs learning bartending, belly dancing, or improv. If you had a question, Kyle had the answer – and probably five follow-up facts you didn't even know you needed.
A true connoisseur of life's finer things, Kyle was the ultimate lunch or dinner companion, trivia teammate, classmate, and game night adversary (she played to win, always). She was a respected boss, a natural leader, and a dedicated mentor, touching countless lives with her wisdom and wit. While she had no biological children, her influence shaped two special young women, Madison and Charlotte, whom she helped shaped with love and guidance.
Kyle was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Donna Jones, shortly after Kyle's diagnosis. She was grateful for the five years she was able to have her Mom and Stepfather, Don, (who recently came back to help care for her) live with her. She is also survived by her devoted husband, Jarod Scott; three step-children, Lucy, Lily, and Ari); her half-brother, Roy; and her fur baby, Phoebe "Chip Chip" as well as a few very close friends who were at her side during the end.
There will be no formal services, as Kyle preferred her goodbyes to be less about tears and more about toasts. So, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gilda's Club for cancer research. But maybe more importantly, the next time you gather for a good meal or raise a glass during happy hour, please think of Kyle – the woman who always knew the answer, loved a lively debate, adored her pets, cherished her friends, and lived every moment to its absolute fullest. She'd appreciate that.
