Kevin Wayne Bengtson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 64. Kevin was born on May 21, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa. With his family, he moved several places throughout Iowa during his young childhood and graduated from high school in Hopkins, Minnesota. He also graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1981 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and from Metropolitan State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Summa cum Laude.
Kevin worked as a Software Engineer for most of his career, including many years at Unisys. His last employer was Cyient, Inc. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts, especially when his children were participating. Kevin and his two sons all achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Kevin also enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, reading, paying attention to their dogs, and traveling. One of Kevin’s favorite hobbies was putting together Legos.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Wayne, and his mother, Alice. Also preceding him in death was his older sister, Valerie, who passed away only three hours prior to Kevin’s death.
Kevin is survived by his second wife, Katherine, and his first wife and mother of their children, Mary. He is also survived by two sons, Christopher and wife, Kathryn, and James and wife, Heidi; three stepsons, Brian (Sara), Adam (Candy), Eric; five grandchildren, Micah, Cayden, Eliana, Willow, Hazel; three step grandchildren, Rylin, Lily, Ellaraine all of whom he loved deeply. Kevin was also survived by three siblings, Kirk, Dwight, and Linda.
The family would like to thank daughter-in-law, Heidi Bengtson, and sister, Linda Bengtson, for the care and compassion they showed Kevin in his final days.
Join us to celebrate Kevin's life on Sunday, February 4, at Gearhart Anoka, 552 East River Rd., Anoka, MN. Service at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior.
