

Karen Arlene Klose (Casey) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 at the age of 82. She was born on December 17th, 1943 in Hibbing, MN and grew up in Kerr Location on the Iron Range.
Karen graduated from Hibbing High School and Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in Duluth. She worked as a Registered Nurse in various locations, as Camp Director of many Girl Scout camps and for the Red Cross as a head nurse before retiring in 2002.
She was actively involved in countless Girl Scout activities, a Master Gardener, world traveler, and a MN State and county Fair exhibit contributor. She was also an avid crafter and collector, screen printer, photographer, and nature buff. Karen had a great sense of humor and always had time for her friends and loved to help out wherever needed.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Carrie Casey, and sisters, Ginger (Dick) Hegaard and Janice (Charles) Stevens.
She is survived by her children, Karylin Klose Boerboom and Jon D. (Joleen) Klose; grandchildren, Jack (Rachel) Boerboom, Karin Casey "KC" (Joey) Svoboda, Kyle Klose, and Keeley (Brady) Carlson-Klose; great-grandson, Jayce Jackson Boerboom; and sister, Janet Casey; along with many nieces and nephews and her beloved Girl Scout family.
The family would like to thank Our Lady of Peace Hospice House for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life in Elk River in June, 2026. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
Interment to take place in Hibbing, MN with remembrances at Ruby Lake in Grand Rapids, Greenwood Girl Scout Camp in Buffalo, and Minnetrista Girl Scout Camp in Minnetrista.
