Julie passed away peacefully after a 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer. A battle it was because she fought so valiantly with determination, grace, dignity and her superpower....humor. Julie was a hairstylist for over 40 years and her clients became her extended family. She loved them fiercely and looked forward to heartfelt time together while they were in her chair. She always had multiple nicknames for her friends, her shenanigans were hilarious, and she lit up every room she walked, danced or sashayed into.
Growing up in Delano, she maintained lifelong friendships to this day. Julie loved spending time with family and her many, many friends. She was an outdoor enthusiast and loved nature, traveling, her deck and hammock, flowers and especially music. She was blessed to live in a neighborhood where her neighbors all looked after each other and became trusted friends. She was an avid follower of Jesus and loved her Woodridge Church family and the Pastors there. Simply put, Julie loved those in her life and cared deeply for them. It was an honor to be called her friend and to spend time with her.
She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Yantes; brother, Patrick (Mary) Yantes; niece, Samantha (Isaac) Gutierrez; half-sister, Danielle Yantes; step family, Lois Yantes, Nicole (Dean) Guennigsmann, Jamie (Jesse) Kral and extended family. She will be deeply missed, and her spirit will live on through all the relationships she had. Words can’t express the love Julie had for life, she was so full of life, it was contagious. Her lack of her earthly presence leaves an ache in our hearts, but we know that Heaven got a whole lot livelier. We also know she is fishing with her father, Jerry.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodridge Church, 1500 County Road 24, Medina, MN, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6th.
