John Edward Tracy, age 66, of Anoka, Minnesota (formerly of Ramsey) passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at home with his family by his side, after struggling with multiple health issues over the past few years. He was born on October 9, 1958 in Robbinsdale, MN to Norman and Gertrude (Gaines) Tracy.
From an early age, he developed a love for music and was in multiple bands, starting in junior high school. He also taught multiple people how to start playing the guitar and piano. John was an avid nature lover - spending many hours on the water up at the family cabin fishing.
John was a stout financial supporter of our local PBS and TPT2 stations, as he believed strongly in both their public services and messages. His favorite shows were the Nature and Nova programs, the baking shows on Saturday mornings and all the great music concerts and specials.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Trudy; mother and father-in-law, Ansel "Jerry" and Margaret "Anne", nee Skilling, Sogge; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Baker; brothers-in-law, Larry Baker and Patrick Sogge; and nephew, Jeffrey Baker.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Janet; daughters, Cassandra and Nicole Tracy, all of Anoka; brothers, James (Marne) Tracy of Fridley and Ronald (Karen) Tracy of Brooklyn Park; brothers- and sisters-in-law, James (Kathleen) Sogge of Paynesville, David Sogge of Blaine, Pastor Carol Jean (Pastor Geary) Smith of Sauk Rapids, Joanne Sogge of Prior Lake, Kathryn (Dale) Struffert of Sauk Centre, and John (Bobbie Jo) Sogge of Prior Lake; and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins along with many dear, life-long friends, some going back to grade school and junior high.
A private family interment is planned at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 from 4 to 9 pm at La Fontaine Event Center (formerly The
Fountains of Ramsey), 7533 Sunwood Dr, Ramsey, MN. If you would like to share a few words or a treasured memory, there will be an opportunity to do so at 6 pm.
Thank you to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and Allina Hospice for the compassionate care you have shown to John during his medical journey and this difficult time.
