John Russel Sandhoefner, 79, of Rogers, MN, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, after a four-year battle with cancer. Born February 18, 1945, he grew up in North Minneapolis with his brother, Michael Sandhoefner, and sisters, Margaret Cazin, Mary Ann Spande, and Linda Surritte. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret and Mary, and his parents, Leslie and Elna Sandhoefner.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 50 years, Debra; their three sons, Dan (Stacy), Dave (Jenny), Rick (Chris); his brother and sister; his grandchildren, Taylor, Haley, Ryan, Joe, Kylee, Chase; as well as many other family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
John was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he earned a degree in Psychology. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and had a successful career in retail management, known for his leadership, reliability, and dedication.
John was cherished for his humor, friendly nature, and dedication to others. He was highly principled and gave his time to help, assisting seniors with their taxes and mentoring fellow cancer patients with compassion. John enjoyed sharing his sharp wit and love of games with his wife, family, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at Northridge Fellowship Church in Rogers, MN, on Thursday, January 16th at 9:30 a.m. with a Celebration Luncheon to follow at The Crown Room in Rogers, MN. The burial will be held at Fort Snelling the following day for the family.
John’s kindness, humor, and love for those around him will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and joy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
