

Jeannette (Jan) Darlene Chapman of Plymouth, MN, passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on September 28, 1934, to Bill and Hulda Johnson in International Falls, MN, and then lived in Sebeka, MN, until the age of four when her family moved to Minneapolis, MN. She attended Harrison grade school, Lincoln Junior High and graduated in 1952 from North High School. She made many friends in high school that she remained friends with until the day of her death.
Jan married Jim Chapman in 1952 at age 17. Their marriage lasted 43 years until he died on August 22, 1995. They had five children and lived in Crystal, MN, until all the children graduated from high school. Then Jim and Jeannette moved to Annandale to enjoy their lake home on Lake Sylvia. When the work commute got too much, they decided to move to a condo in Plymouth, MN. Jan loved all the lake cabins they enjoyed in Grand Rapids, Mille Lacs, and Annandale. She loved fishing, being on the lake with her family, making tasty meals, and baking wonderful cookies. Jan was talented at drawing and painting. She worked as a banquet waitress at various hotels for 40 years. Six years after Jim died, she met Cliff Ebert with whom she had a 20+ years relationship. His family was good to her and she enjoyed being welcomed to their family.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Vern, Ron, Jim. She is survived by her children, Gail (Chuck) Smith, Milaca, MN, Dan (Connie), Denton, TX, Pat (Jessica), South Haven, MN, Dave, Milaca, MN, Tim (Tina), Marathon Key, FL; grandchildren, Pete, Evan, Darcy, Chris, Brody, Jake, Breanna, James, Marina, Roman; great grandchildren, Trent, Dominick, Tommy, Kyle, Allie, Avery, Beckett, Elaina, Gordon, Aubrey, Quinn.
Jan's last week was spent visiting with family, going for boat rides, enjoying her grandcats, Finn and Kitkat, snuggling on her lap and looking forward to meeting a new great grandchild on the way. May God and all her loved ones welcome her to heaven. We will all miss her so much and we know she will welcome us to heaven when it is our time.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hope, on Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Fort Snelling at a later date.
