Janice Kay (Brown) Bogenrief, age 71, of Delano, passed away in the comfort of her home with her children by her side on February 19, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Lorraine Brown; sisters, Debra Gabrelcik and Cheryl Vanderlinden; brothers-in-law, Tom Lobitz and Randy Gabrelcik. Survived by sister, Sandra Lobitz; sons, Nicholas (Vaun) and Daniel; daughter, Katie; grandson, Connall; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jan grew up in Delano, attending St. Peter Catholic School and graduated from Delano High School. She attended St. Cloud State University for some time before beginning her career in Customer Service. Jan began that journey in the insurance industry. She then went on to help bring Randy’s Sanitation to fruition from the basement operation it originated as. Later in life, she went on to support people in beginning the process of pre-planning cremation services. Her greatest accomplishment in her lifetime was being a mother. Jan truly loved nothing more than raising her children in the home and community she grew up in. Everything she ever did was done for her children. She insisted that her children would never go without and went to great lengths to provide for them. She has always encouraged her kids to make their dreams a reality and do what they love in life.
Jan was her son, Nick’s, biggest cheerleader, attending all but one of his sporting events from the time he was very young until he graduated college in 2005. Her proudest moment came in 2011, when she became “Grandma Bogie” to her only grandson, Connall. They spent summers together in Minnesota, attending an annual Twin’s game for her birthday, celebrating the 4th of July events in Delano, and putting on a ½ birthday party for Connall with a homemade cake and bowling. She adored spending time with her son, Daniel, laughing with one another, cooking together and spending time outside landscaping her gardens and watching them grow. Jan was a diehard Minnesota sports fan, spending many of her days watching the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves and her beloved Minnesota Gophers with her daughter, Katie. They made frequent visits to the Arboretum to see all the lovely blooms and art exhibits, spent many Sunday mornings baking popovers and would treat themselves to the occasional stroll through the mall for some window shopping. Jan also found joy and comfort in spending time watching the birds that would frequent her bird feeders and houses in her yard. She deeply cared for all animals, especially her cherished fur kids and grand fur kids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 6th at 11:30am with visitation at 10:30am and luncheon to follow immediately after at Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Road 24, Wayzata, MN, 55391. Private Interment at a later date.
