Janet M. Peterson

Janet "Jan" Marvel Peterson of New Hope, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the age of 93, a month short of her 94th birthday. She was born on October 26, 1929, in Lark, Wisconsin. She attended DePere High School and transferred over to Denmark High School in 1947.

In her career she worked as a school Kitchen Manager at several schools in District 281.

She was actively involved in Olivet Church in Robbinsdale, MN since the early 60’s, loved to garden, did needlework, crafts, ceramics, loved to cook and bake, and was in a flower arranging club. She had a strong passion for her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and friends. Janet and Vernon loved to travel in their earlier years both in the US and Europe.

Preceded in death by husband, Vernon; parents, Allen and Anita Hussong; brothers, Harlan, Wayne, and Glenn.

Survived by her sister, Diane (Paul) Kunz; children, Jeanne (Joe) Winterrowd, Allen Paul, and Barb (Ed) Standal; grandchildren, Eric (Susan), Nathan (Katie), Jesse (Apri)l, Kristen (Michael), Kati (Robert), and fourteen great-grandchildren.

We were all blessed to have her in our lives. Will always remember how mom and dad were both humble, patient, kind, respectful and wonderful parents. They were such excellent role models for us kids growing up.

The family would like to thank St. Therese Oxbow for the care and compassion they showed our mom in her final days. The staff in the Hospice/Memory care unit were kind and compassionate to our mother, especially a nurse named Zee.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Thursday, October 19 at the Plymouth Community Center, 14800 34th Ave. N, Plymouth. Visitation at 10:00 followed by 11:00 service and lunch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515 Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
