Jim spent the majority of his life in Minot, ND. He loved the community & was very involved. Jim was a man of faith & loved singing in the Zion Lutheran Church choir. He spent a short time in the Navy during Vietnam & returned to Minot State to complete his degree. He was a teacher, a salesman & a sports enthusiast.
He lettered in three sports during his time at Minot High but his favorite by far was baseball. Jim was an avid Twins fan & had the opportunity to play ball with some Twins legends at Fantasy Camp in 2011. Jim took up golf later in life & developed many great friendships at Souris Valley Golf Course. He loved to hate the sport & it fueled his competitive nature.
He loved with his whole heart & gave generously. Jim was a true extrovert that could talk to anyone & often said that we are put on this earth to love one another. He practiced this each & every day of his life.
Jim moved to Minnesota in 2011 to be closer to his daughter Allison (Jeff) Mehlhorn & grandchildren Alex & Austin as his disease progressed. He loved his grandsons so much & found tremendous joy spending time with them & teaching them baseball. He was loved & cared for by many in his final years.
Jim’s spirit will live on through the family & friends that survive him. He joins those that preceded him in death in God’s promise of eternal life.
