Jack Edward McNutt, born September 6, 1938 in Vandalia IL, left us on September 22, 2023 in Woodbury, MN.
Survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Jean; his children, Kelli Tatum and Dawn (Scott) Sibert ; and his grandchildren, Benjamin and Joshua (Julia) Sibert.
A man with unending patience, he taught 7th grade English/Social studies for 37 years, English as a second language for 5 years, raised two deeply emotional daughters, taught those daughters and two grandsons how to drive, and never once raised his voice or his blood pressure.
Jack was an avid fisherman who took annual fishing trips with his long-time buddies. He loved to travel with his wife and their friends experiencing a wide variety of locales and cultures. He was a self-taught woodcarver who also used those skills to craft amazing pumpkin and watermelon sculptures. Jack led a life of service, whether it was volunteering as a teacher’s union rep, for the box office of a theater company, or driving his grandson to music school, he was always game to put his time and energy towards his family’s pursuits.
Uniquely individualistic, Jack liked to make an entrance - not with words or grand gestures, but with his
colorful cowboy get-ups, boots, Western hats, and bushy Fu Manchu mustache. A prolific Cowboy Poet, Jack wrote and performed dozens of poems for the special people in his life for retirements, birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions under the alter ego, Rattler Jack.
He has forever inspired Jean, his wife of 63 years, his daughters Kelli and Dawn, and his
grandsons Ben and Josh to embrace their individuality and to do the right thing because it is
the right thing to do.
On October 6th, visitation will be held at 9:45 AM, service at 10:30 AM at Central Baptist Church (420 N Roy St, St. Paul, MN 55104) with luncheon to follow.
