Gary Louis Reed

Gary graduated from Greer Boys School in Hope Farm, NY. After high school graduation, Gary served in the Army during the Korean War in the 370th Heavy Equipment Co., KleberKaserne Kaiserslautern, Germany.

After his military service, Gary attended Brooks Institute of Photography, in Santa Barbara, CA, followed by the Northeastern Bible Institution. He met his first wife in New Jersey and had three children.

He was actively involved with Central Baptist of Ewing, NJ, as a youth worker, trustee, elder, and adult Sunday school teacher. At age 50, he and his wife, Virginia (Barnhill) Reed, were involved in a car accident that tragically took her life. Gary was remarried to Alice (Hill) Reed of Story City, Iowa, in 1987. They served as missionaries to Argentina, Mexico and several states here in America.

Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Olive Mae (Cox) Reed; first wife, Viriginia Mae (Barnhill) Reed; two half-siblings, and two preborn-great grandchildren, Selah Bargen and Noah Green.

He is survived by wife, Alice Reed; children, Linette, (Kevin) Walzak, Kevin (Sharon) Reed, and Karen Reed; 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Billy) Savoren, Ashley (Aaron) Pennington, Kaitlin (Brandon) Green, Joelle (Daniel) Bargen, Kristen Walzak, Aaron (Sarah) Walzak, Rachel Reed, and Josh (Natalie) Reed; 12 great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.

As Gary didn’t know an earthly father, Psalm 68:5a brought him comfort.

"A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in His holy habitation."
