Fred was born on July 5th, 1948, in Minneapolis, where he grew up alongside his brothers.
Fred loved many things throughout his life. He treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and had a special fondness for driving his red 1972 Cutlass convertible. He also had a lifelong affection for birds and cared for many parakeets and cockatoos over the years.
Fred proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Ruth Risley, and his brothers Richard, Paul, and Dennis Risley.
He is survived by his children, Carrie (Wayne) Traver and Jason (Lynn) Risley; his grandchildren, Justin, Alex, Mitchell, Zach, Erika, and Megan; his great-grandchildren, Damian, Charlee, and Logan; his brother, Harold Risley; his partner, Barb Kangas, and her daughter, Heidi.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale for the care and compassion they provided during Fred’s final days.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lino Lakes American Legion Post 566, 7731 Lake Drive Lino Lakes, MN 55014. A luncheon will be provided, and family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor his memory.
