Frank John Lang

Frank John Lang of Little Canada, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on October 19, 1931, in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he grew up in the “Frogtown” neighborhood along with his older brother Carl and many childhood friends.

Frank joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950 and served as an artillery radio operator in Korea before his discharge in 1954. Frank worked as a maritime radio operator for RCA after his military service. He started working for the University of Minnesota in 1956 and retired from the Agricultural Engineering Department in 1993.

Frank married his wife, Darlyne, in 1968, taking on the role of father to her two teenage children, Kim and Debra. He enjoyed many weekends with family camping, boating, snow skiing, and eventually, a month-long family trip to Europe.

Frank developed numerous friends growing up in Frogtown, many of whom maintained lifelong friendships, enjoying family camping weekends on the St. Croix River, golfing as many times as they could get away, and annual walleye fishing trips in Ely, Minnesota. Frank was an avid “do-it-yourselfer” who could not resist fixing something broken, and he spent many afternoons relaxing and watching a good football game or golf tournament on TV.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Adele Lang, and his brother Carl Lang. He was survived by his wife, Darlyne Lang, who passed shortly after on April 4, 2025, and by his stepson, Kim (Cheryl) Skibsted, stepdaughter Debra (James) Schwietert, grandchildren Jonathan Schwietert and Melanie (Nick) Wessels, and great-grandchildren Hazel and Nixon Wessels.

The family would like to thank the Cardigan Ridge Senior Living and Hospice of the Midwest staff for their compassion and superb care in his final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Cardigan Ridge, 3300 Rice Street, Little Canada, Minnesota, on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Fort Snelling Cemetery on November 7, 2025.
