Fauneil "Faun" Fae (Palmer) Barton of New Hope, MN, passed away on Thursday, July 27 at 8:30 AM at the age of 91. She was born on October 19, 1931, in Wayne, NE, where she grew up on a farm and later moved into town. Faun worked as a first and second grade teacher and she proudly worked for 20 years she as an activities coordinator/director at Berkshire Residence in Osseo, MN.
Faun was actively involved in Knollwood Christian Church, where she was a founding member. She loved to travel and visited over 17 countries such as China and Australia, and all 50 of the United States. She sang for several years with the Plymouth Rockers Senior Choir. She was a prolific artist and loved sharing her paintings, cards and talent with others.
Faun is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Palmer; siblings, Beverly, Robert, Lucille, Neil, and William. She is survived by sons, Lee, Todd (Kris); daughter, Lynn Barton; sister, Carol (Howard) Fegles; brother, Ken (Dorothy) Palmer.
Faun was known as a kind, gentle and loving person, with great talent in art, music and bringing out the best in people. As an activities director, she knew that being old did not equate to the end of personal growth. She had the residents in book clubs, writing poetry, presenting plays, singing in a choir, and of course teaching them to paint. To see the pride of each resident as they presented their new found talent proved that she had gotten it right.
Faun knew that an encouraging word could make a dramatic change in someone's day and intentionally offered kindness wherever possible. She also had a great passion to share the hope of Christ with anyone who would listen. In the last months and days, God gave her glimpses of what was to come, the joy, peace and love she would experience. It is beautiful to know she is walking, seeing, hearing, talking and pain-free. More than that, she is with her heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Ambassador in New Hope and Grace Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Faun in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Celebration at Knollwood Christian Church on August 26 at 11 am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Faun's honor to Deaf Missions.
