Edward George Leidig Sr., 90, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on April 27, 2026.
Ed was born on May 28, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa, to Roy and Gladys Leidig. He attended the University of Iowa, where he played football and participated in the ROTC program. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force, earning his wings and flying refueler aircraft for the Strategic Air Command. While in the Air Force, he married his wife, Mary Lynn. The couple recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary together while Ed was hospitalized. Following his military service, Edward transitioned to a successful career in sales for Caterpillar truck engines.
A man of faith, Edward was an active member of the Allenspark Community Church in Allenspark, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Leidig; his daughter, Elizabeth (David) Hamlin; his sons, Edward (Sally) Leidig Jr. and Steven (Jenny) Leidig; and his seven grandchildren: Emily (Chase) Mallory, Nick, Kevin, Grace, Angelina, Trevor, and Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Blythe-Anne and Mary Beth, and his parents, Roy and Gladys. In a poignant family parallel, Edward passed away on the same day of the year as his father.
There will be no public services held at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the Allenspark Community Church in Allenspark, Colorado.
