

Edna Elaine (Berg) Selin of New Prague Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday June 19, 2026 at the age of 93.
She was born on April 23, 1933 to Lena Victoria Larson and LeRoy Raymond Berg in Jewett Minnesota. (Population 126). Edna’s beginnings were humble and difficult as the second daughter of farm hands. The family moved around as it grew to ten children. Edna with her older sister Marie took on the responsibility for the younger children. Much of her fortitude and endurance were fostered during these years. As a five-year-old, she and Marie (6) walked miles to school. Later at the age of 10 she worked as a laborer on a truck farm.
Edna attended Northwestern college for two years. During her late teens she met George, the love of her life, and they attended many church functions. They married July 2, 1955. They started their family in 1957 and purchased a home in the year of 1958 in St. Louis Park, where they stayed raising their five children.
Edna enjoyed cooking, daycare, foster care, bowling leagues, painting and softball (her nicknames were “Slugger” and “Babe” because she loved watching the ball fly i.e. home run) In her mid-fifties through her 80’s she acquired skills at new activities included crocheting, downhill skiing, scuba diving, cross country, motorcycling, and even ziplining in Alaska for her 80th birthday. She and George purchased a business, Pal Manufacturing. She learned the skill of welding. She and George employed their children to work the business with them.
In her early 60’s she was a nanny for a missionary family in Lyon France. She Built strong bonds throughout her travels and maintained those relationships for the remainder of her life.
Edna had a strong faith in God and a brilliant fun-loving attitude in her adult years that was contagious. Faith and family were her priorities.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George Selin; parents, Lena and LeRoy Berg; brothers, Donald (Sharon), Ronald (AnnMarie), Raymond, and Kenneth Berg; sisters, Marie Berg, Betty (Willis) Tainter; brother-in-law, Denny (Janet) Horner; and son-in-law, Greg Woodgate (Meri’s husband).
Edna is survived by her sisters, Janet Horner and Barbara (Ron) Banis; brother, Russell (Marilyn) Berg; sister-in-law, Linda (Raymond) Berg; daughters, Conney (Rocky) Keel, Diann (Steve) Keller, Meri Woodgate, Nancey Selin; son, Peter Selin; grandchildren, Rebakah (Dean), Sarah (Joe), Bethany, Sherie (Michael), Tiffany (Dana), Alys, Merissa (Josh), Sarah, Branden (Liz), Nicole (Joey), and Stephany; and thirty two great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service to honor Edna will be held at Faith Point, 1051 West 270th Street, New Prague, Minnesota 56071 on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow the service.
