Dorothy Mae Eckers

Dorothy, age 94, of North Mankato, MN (formerly of New Hope, MN) went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Dot was born in Sullivan, WI on March 12, 1929 to Ernst & Veronica (Loppnow) Krohn. She married Thomas Eckers on October 24, 1965 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Golden Lake, WI. They lived in Waukesha, WI for 11 months until Tom was transferred by his employer to MN. They lived in New Hope for 48 years until Tom passed away in October of 2013. Dot then moved to North Mankato. She was very active in her churches throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed playing cards with Tom and their friends, her family, as well as her new found friends in Mankato. She also loved to read, knit, sew, and play her Hammond organ.

Dot is survived by her son, Steve Eckers and his wife, Deb, of Mankato; daughter, Peggi Smith-Bauer, of Pine City; grandchildren, Ryan (Hope), Alexa; great granddaughter, Blaire, sister-in-law, Suzanne Stigler; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; mother and father in-law; sisters, Marion and Carol; as well as three brothers-in-law.

A heartfelt thank you to the Ecumen Hospice team as well as Dot's caregivers with Mankato Clinic and to her friends at Garfield Place, your love and care meant the world to her and to her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 110 N. Fourth St., Mankato, on Friday, August 18 at 11:00 am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will take place privately at Fort Snelling.
