Donna Mae Audrey Sheforgen (Cisar) passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 91st birthday. She is reunited with the love of her life, Rollie, after being widowed for 31 years.
Born on January 2, 1934, on the family farm in Denham, MN, Donna was the second of seven children of Frank and Georgiann Cisar. Though she grew up on the farm, she was not particularly fond of animals and preferred caring for siblings and helping with household chores. As a youngster she enjoyed yodeling and had a deep appreciation for country music, especially Loretta Lynn. She was proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage and had a strong sense of patriotism.
Donna married Rollie on November 22, 1951, in Aberdeen, Maryland, before Rollie was shipped overseas with the Army. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. She was a devoted mother to Deb (Craig) Hanson and their sons Chris (Nancy) Hanson and Cole (Elizabeth) Hanson; Greg (Lynn) Sheforgen and their children Amber (Duncan) Waite and Ryan (Mari) Sheforgen; and Todd Sheforgen. She cherished her great-grandchildren Olivia, Reagan, and Ethan. Donna is also survived by her sister Sandi (Duane) Olson of Two Harbors, MN, sister-in-law Jane Sheforgen of Brooklyn Park, MN as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughters Caty and Erin, father and mother-in-law Roland and Blanche Sheforgen, as well as siblings, Donald, Bobby, Duane, Kenny, and Shirley, sister-in-laws, Dorothy Hyska, Gertrude Oetterer and brother-in-law Bob Sheforgen. Her family meant everything to her. Donna and son Todd always shared a special bond.
Donna worked at North Pine Electric in Finlayson and in the accounting department at Peavey Company when they moved to Minneapolis. She dedicated herself to homemaking and working in childcare. She found joy in collecting antique glassware and angels, sewing doll clothes and quilts, gardening, cooking—especially dumplings and kolaches—and shopping for gifts, purchasing in multiple sizes as to always have the “right” size on hand-just in case!
A service of remembrance will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka, MN on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior and a luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, family prefers a donation to a charity of your choice.
Special thanks to everyone at Personal Care Senior Living, Anoka, where Donna resided for nearly four years and to Park Nicollet Hospice for the care and gentleness they showed Donna on each and every visit.
May Donna’s memory and loving smile bring comfort to all who knew her.
