Born April 14, 1936, in Newton, MA; passed away April 11, 2025, in White Bear Lake, MN. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) Pickett Roeske.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Herman and Dorothy (Taylor) Roeske.
Don received a BS degree from the University of Bridgeport. After completing U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School, he served for 8 years. He was an insurance underwriter for the Travelers Corporation and for agencies out east. He enjoyed a “second career” with Eastern Mountain Sports.
He was commander of American Legion Post 478. He was later a member of Post 1776 and of Voiture 1457 of the “Forty and Eight” honor society. He had recently become a member of VFW Post 1782.
Don received a 40-year pin from the Boy Scouts of America, recognizing his years as a Cub Scout through his years as a unit commissioner. He had recently joined St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in White Bear Lake.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two sons, Frederick (Rick) Roeske and Mark Roeske and their wives; a sister, Joan Roeske Moore; and six grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cerenity Care Center Chapel, 1900 Webber St, White Bear Lake, on May 16, 2025, at 10 a.m., with gathering beginning at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Hospice of the Midwest, Forest Lake Minnesota.
