David Paul Peyla

David Paul Peyla, age 78, of Staples, Minnesota passed peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at home with family by his side. He was born on April 24, 1946 in Ely, Minnesota to John B. A. Peyla and Edith Mary Peyla. He was preceded in death by his father, John and his brother, Daniel “Dan”.

David is survived by his mother Edith M. (Lundein); wife, Lynne J. Hanniford; his brother, Micheal J. "Gin" Peyla; sister-in-law, Kathleen DeRos; his son, Stephen M. (Misty) Peyla; daughter, Maria Allen; Lynne’s children, Lisa (Robert) Eschbach and Timothy A.(Wendy) Hanniford; and his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Navy Diver Veteran. After his time in the service he continued diving and became a commercial diver working in many different places throughout his life. David loved to travel and see the world and made many lifetime friends. He had an incredible zest for life that meant spending time with family going camping and fishing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota; things that his family did with him and he could pass on. David always had to be busy doing something whether it was tinkering in his garage or doing things outside, he was always busy. If help was needed or he saw something that needed to be done he was first in line to fix it. David was helpful, kind, generous, and full of life.

He will be dearly missed and remembered always.
