Corinne Louise Jenson of Roseville, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the age of 85. She was mercifully welcomed home by our heavenly Father after dementia/Alzheimer’s took away her active, happy life. She was born on June 12, 1939, and was baptized and confirmed as a child of God at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, MN. She loved school and social activities: playing trumpet in the Mora HS Band, cheerleading, working on the school newspaper, and enjoying friends.
Corinne went to Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis to become a Registered Nurse, specializing in Labor and Delivery care. Months prior to graduating, she married James Jenson, a student at Luther Seminary in St. Paul. They eventually settled in Montana, where she became a pastor’s wife, a nursing professional, and a mother, having three children there. In 1980, the family moved back to Minnesota. Years later, Corinne and James spent a stint in Chicago, and since 1992 have been in the metro area. Their children have lived nearby for decades and all were blessed to gather regularly.
Corinne enjoyed staying busy and had many artsy pursuits, including sewing, knitting, needlework, ceramics, and other crafts. She also managed a home, including daily cooking, and was a masterful multi-tasker, ably handling either crochet or canning, often while keeping an eye on the television, the children, and the storyline of a book. Activities involving others engaged her full attention though, like working at the clinic, singing in the choir, or reading to children at bedtime.
She retired in 2000 to do other favorite things: book clubs, knitting groups, traveling, RV camping, winter breaks at Hilton Head Island, SC, dinner dates with friends. And she always loved reading.
A highlight of Corinne’s family life was 47 years with a lakeside cabin in Montana—there 3 weeks for summer vacations and most of every summer after James retired. She cherished those summers for all those wonderful years, and treasured the memories made there. Another highlight was the great joy she found in the bond with her granddaughter, Leah.
Corinne was a light in the lives of everyone around her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and unconditional love that serves as a quiet example of what truly matters. She will be deeply missed, but her gentle spirit, dedication to loved ones, and constant support will never be forgotten, and she will continue to guide us.
Corinne and James were active members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church for 31 years, and sang with the St. Andrew’s Choir for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elna Kent, and her sisters, Donna Lou Kent and Klea Woodberry.
Corinne is survived by her husband, James Jenson; her children, Matthew Jenson, Jill (Barry) Rohweder, and Amy (Peter) Danio; her grandchildren, Leah (Erik) Jansa, Natalie (Sonny) Anderson, and Molly Rohweder; her siblings, Kurt (Beth) Kent, Craig (Chris) Kent, and Patrick Woodberry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services are at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minnesota on February 4 at 11:00am. Visitation begins at 10:00am and lunch follows at noon. Livestreams and recordings of services will be available at saintandrews.org.
