Charlotte L. (Urtel) Randolph, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and neighborhood friend, Wanda, on May 4, 2023 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN. Charlotte was born on June 25, 1941 in Warroad, MN to parents Mildred and Paul Urtel.
She began her career working for IDS in Minneapolis. After moving to Rush City, she was employed by Dennis Kirk. Eventually she returned to Minneapolis and retired from Augsburg Fortress Publishing. Volunteering was important to Charlotte. She volunteered in the bookstore at her church, with English as a Second Language, Every Meal, NEAR food shelf, and in her later years thoroughly enjoyed working in the office with the staff at Broadway Village.
Charlotte enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved a good game of cards, Left/Center/Right (with prizes!), Scrabble, and was a whiz at putting puzzles together. She had a strong faith and studying scripture was important to her. Charlotte was artistic; she dabbled in painting, was well-known for her counted cross-stitch pictures and especially the dish towels!
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; Mildred and Paul Urtel, sister; Edna Jean “Skip” Billey, nephew-in-law Dan Lee and former sister-in-Law Shirley Kramer.
Charlotte is survived by sister; Mary Ann (Wilbur) Tveit, former Brother-in-Law, Donald Kramer. Nieces; Linda (Dan) Krieger, Jeannie (Erik) Strand, Renee Lee, Kari (Ward) Nelson, Kristi (Robert) McElroy. Nephews; Dean (Karen) Tveit, Scott (Marla) Billey and Randy Kramer. Seven Great-Nephews, one Great-Niece and four Great-great Nieces.
A special thank you to her neighborhood caregiver Wanda! The family would like to thank the North Memorial Hospice team; especially Chaplain Ray, and the staff at Guardian Angels Care Center for the care and compassion they showed Charlotte in her final days.
Per Charlotte’s wishes, a gathering of family and friends will be held in the community room at Broadway Village (6046 West Broadway Avenue, New Hope, MN) on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to Every Meal, Guardian Angels of Elk River, Meals on Wheels, NEAR or your local food shelf, North Memorial Hospice, or Twin Cities: PBS TPT.
