

Carsten (Carl) Garin Marxen, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 28, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on January 19, 1935, to Martha and Carsten Marxen, he lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a deep love for the people closest to him. His family will remember him with great affection and gratitude for the grace he brought into their lives.
Carl served in the Marine Corps and then worked as a hydraulic engineer. Throughout every season of life, he met challenges with a calm endurance.
Carl was married to Florence (Flossie) Marxen for 35 years, and they shared a life built on love, faith, and mutual devotion. He was a proud father to John, Debra, and step-daughter Sharon (Ted). His grandchildren - Matthew, Jacob, Laura, Joel, Kaeti, Joshua and Jennifer - were a treasured part of his life, and they and his great-grandchildren, will carry forward the memory of his kindness.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary and Alice and his first wife, Janet Marie Nelson Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lewis, Richard, John, Gene and Ethel.
Carl enjoyed hunting, reading, and serving at church and treasured his family most of all. He showed the quiet dignity of a man who understood the value of hard work, faith, and love.
Memorial Service to be held Monday, August 10, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 9201 Normandale Blvd, Minneapolis, at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior.
Memorials may be given to the St. Michael's Church funeral fund in honor of Carl.
